Sixteen-year-old schoolgirl nominated for Nobel Peace Prize

"It is very honorable and pleasant to be nominated for such an important award. It's incredible and a little strange," RBC quotes the schoolgirl with reference to Aftonbladet.

Greta first declared herself in August last year - then she organized a "school strike" in front of the parliament in Stockholm. Every Friday, she came to the Riksdag with calls for politicians to begin fulfilling the terms of the Paris Treaty on Reducing Emissions. The girl said that she would not attend school until she was listened to.

Greta has become an example and inspirer for thousands of schoolchildren throughout Europe. At the end of February, Thunberg held a demonstration in Berlin - about four thousand young people took part in it. Nevertheless, the young activist has many critics who explain her enthusiasm for the struggle with youthful maximalism.

Today Greta and her followers plan to hold the #FridaysForFuture campaign. The action will be held in several countries of the world at once, the goal of thousands of young participants is to attract the attention of as many people as possible to the problems of climate change.
