The participants in the experiment for three weeks took alternately a real pain medication and a placebo. All processes that took place in the brain were recorded using MRI. As a result of studies, it was found that in the human brain there are special areas that respond to placebo. This area is located in the right hemisphere in front of the brain. The human reaction to this substance depends on the number of bonds of this site with other zones.
Scientists said that the revealed results will help to more efficiently select drugs with an analgesic spectrum of action. In addition, the data from these studies can accurately assess the effectiveness of certain drugs. In the future, specialists will have to figure out the principle of placebo action on human pain.
