Runners ahead of Moscow metro train

Four famous runners challenged the Moscow metro and overtook the Koltsevaya metro line train, running 15.4 km in 45 minutes.

Moscow is a high-speed city. Runners Iskander Yadgarov, Vasily Permitin, Dmitry Safronov and Valentin Smirnov decided to prove that a person can be faster than a modern metro train. Athletes are one of the strongest in Russia:

Iskander Yadgarov is an iOS mobile Yandex developer.

Kart, winner of the Moscow half marathon 2015 and 2017;

Vasily Permitin - participant of four world mountain racing championships and three European championships;

Dmitry Safronov - participant in the Olympic Games in London, bronze medalist of the European Championship and winner of one of the best results in the marathon in the history of Russia;

Valentin Smirnov - Russia's ex-mile champion, multiple champion of the country in middle distance running.

For the track the Ring line of the metro with twelve stations and the Garden Ring with a length of 15.4 km were chosen. The runners were faced with the task of relaying the entire distance and closing the route, finishing at the starting point faster than Lana Leroy, who went on a rival train.

The team made a huge number of measurements and calculations, but until the last moment it was not clear whether it would be possible to realize the idea.

The filming of the match took place on the night of Friday to Saturday. The film crew had only one take - the subway train runs along the route with the planned stops between twelve stations, without changes and expectations. Runners covered the distance in 45 minutes, 3 seconds and 57 hundredths.
