Yes, you were not mistaken: now you can cook a hot dog for those who don’t eat meat at all. How? Just replacing the sausage with carrots. We know that sounds strange, but it turns out damn delicious!
For this recipe, long and thin carrots are best.

Peel the carrots and trim the ends.
Put the carrots in a pot of water, bring to a boil and cook for about 10 minutes, until tender, but not until fully cooked (this can be checked with a fork).
Meanwhile, cook the marinade. Combine soy sauce, honey, mustard and spices in a separate bowl and beat well with a fork or whisk.
Drain the pan and let the carrots cool a little. Then, with a fork, make several punctures on each root crop, so that they are better pickled.
Put the carrots in a container or bag and pour the marinade. Pickle carrots for at least 2 hours or leave them overnight.
When the carrots are ready, fry each in a grill pan with a little oil.
Preheat hot dog buns, cut and place in each carrot.
Serve hot dogs as usual with ketchup and mustard, or add vegetables and greens to taste.
