Not an introvert or extrovert: 7 signs that you are an ambivalent

With the light hand of lovers of popular psychology and online tests, we are used to dividing everyone into extroverts and introverts - those who are turned in their emotions and feelings to the outside world, and those whose attention is directed at the contemplation of the inner world. However, in the classical classification of Carl Jung, there is also a third type - the ambivert. It combines the qualities of both psychotypes and serves as a kind of compromise between the two extremes - due to the ability to understand people and quickly adapt to changing conditions, ambivers more often achieve their goals.

We have collected seven signs of ambivert - read it and, perhaps, in some of them you will recognize yourself.

The strength of the ambivers is their phenomenal sense of tact - they understand the "context" and always correlate their actions with the mood of others.

No, they don’t compromise and don’t adapt to others - they simply know what, how and when to do or say, in order to achieve their goal and not make enemies.

Yes, ambiviertes can have fun all night, be the ringleaders at the noisiest party and maintain small talk simultaneously with ten strangers, but at some point they the internal battery "sits down" and they are silently removed from the proscenium. Unlike extroverts, they have no dependence on communication - ambivers believe when to turn off the phone and get out of the "web" of social networks for at least a couple of days. By the way, thanks to this conscious approach to the needs of their body, people of this psychotype are less prone to emotional burnout.

Ambiverts value not the quantity of social connections, but their quality. So choosing between non-binding chatter and face-to-face conversation, they, of course, will choose the second. Yes, as it was said above, ambivers have no communication problems - secular conversations are given to them as easily as three-pointer James Lebron. However, as such, they do not receive pleasure from such communications.

But an intimate conversation with a really interesting person is the value for which ambiviertes are ready to travel the entire city and cancel all other important matters.

Firstly, when receiving an invitation to any meeting or event, ambivverts rarely immediately answer yes (and if they agree, they always think out an escape plan in advance) . To begin with, they need to weigh everything - is the play of candles and time really worth it. Secondly, the prospect of staying at home and laying books all day in the closet does not seem to them a bad scenario.

And finally, they enjoy such a conscious social deprivation. However, everything is good in moderation - the daytime isolation of the ambivert must certainly end with an evening conversation with loved ones.

Ambiverts like to be friends with their own kind - self-sufficient people who do not require constant attention and communication. Occasional meetings they are quite happy with, but endless correspondence and calls during the day, on the contrary, are tiring.

Ambiverts respect the feelings of others and expect the same attitude towards themselves. They can listen to a friend’s complaints meekly and patiently two or three times, but for the fourth time they’ll probably find some excuse to avoid talking (they’ll hardly decide to express their reluctance directly).

Ambivierets, in principle, do not mind being in the spotlight, but for this they need a good mood and an appropriate attitude. Playing for the public, witty remarks, juggling with jokes, and taking an active part in the discussion require inspiration - ambivverts are not always ready to "spend" their mental strength and take part in general fun.

At such moments, they dream of becoming invisible observers, and each attempt to attract attention to them (even if it is a compliment) involuntarily causes them internal resistance. That is why, by the way, ambivers like to go to a cafe alone - they like to be among people, but do not interact with them.

Since ambivers are easy to converge with people and often become the soul of the company, friends and colleagues sincerely consider them extroverts. They are not aware that such extraversion does not last long.

In addition, not all ambiviers like to advertise their need for privacy - on the contrary, many of them prefer not to devote others to some aspects of their personal lives.
