The main innovation of the updated Apple Watch is the integrated cardiograph. The side button of the watch is equipped with a tactical feedback sensor (taptic engine). An electrocardiogram can be done simply by attaching a finger to the button. Heart rate tests are stored on the iPhone’s Health app and can be shared with your healthcare provider if necessary. The Apple Watch is the world's first smartwatch with an ECG option.
In addition, the Series 4 measures heart rate in the background. You can evaluate your heart condition at any time. The creators suggest that timely tracking changes in heart rate will help prevent many heart diseases.
In the "Training" application, yoga and hiking were added. The built-in altimeter will help skiers, snowboarders and climbers to quickly receive information about elevations.
Another useful feature is an emergency motion sensor. Thanks to the new accelerometer and gyroscope, the watch is able to recognize that you have fallen. A warning will appear on the screen, which can be rejected or, conversely, quickly call the rescue service. The watch itself will call an ambulance if you do not respond to the warning within 60 seconds.
Together with the Apple Watch Series 4, three new smartphone models were presented at the presentation: iPhone XS, iPhone XS Max and iPhone XR.
