Kidney stones: 3 main causes

- The main reason for the development of urolithiasis has not yet been studied, but it has already been established that metabolic disorders play a large role here, in particular, a change in the water-salt balance and chemical composition of the blood. These conditions are influenced by different factors - below we give the most common.

Most people have deposits of salt and sand in their kidneys — water is needed to remove them from the body along with excess fluid. You can understand that you are short of fluid by the color of urine. If it is yellow or dark yellow, then there is a risk of stagnation of sand.

A good indicator is clear or straw-yellow urine. The higher the volume of fluid consumed, the better the kidney works and the less likely the formation of stones.

An important nuance: we are talking about plain water, we do not include coffee, tea and other drinks. At the same time, natural juices and fruit drinks prepared in pure mineral water can be used. However, patients with kidney disease need to buy water of low mineralization.

Healing water, saturated with minerals, can give an extra burden on the kidneys and contribute to the development of the disease.

I would recommend a healthy person to consume about one and a half liters of water. But if he plays sports or lives in hot climates, the water load should be increased by one liter. Patients who have already treated urolithiasis should pay special attention to the quantity and quality of water consumed - there is a high risk of relapse.
