- When I prepare for a specific competition, I spend 10-12 trainings a week. Usually two a day. Each of them is devoted to a separate task: practicing strikes, general physical preparation, and so on. There are still sparring - on them we recreate situations that happen in competitions.
After the fights I train less: once a day or even two days.
This helps keep fit. There shouldn't be big breaks. Even a week of rest adversely affects the form.
You can win the main battle in life, get in perfect shape, and then all in two or three weeks of rest lose and never again return to the peak.
I have five coaches in the team, their work is supervised by the head coach Taras Kiyashko.
I live in Moscow, preparing for competitions here. If the battle does not take place in Russia, I leave for the place in advance in order to have time to acclimatize.
On April 20, my match with Alistair Overeem at the UFC tournament was to take place, but it had to be canceled. However, the battle will certainly take place. The fight is relevant, we both want it.
As soon as the UFC gives us this opportunity, we will accept the challenge.

To train every day, to overcome oneself, to observe discipline is much more difficult than going out to a duel. What happens in the competition, the fighter experiences many times during preparation. Fights with the strongest rivals can go easily - simply because the athlete was preparing hard for them.
Every day my form is getting better than yesterday.
Fights are only part of the process, visible to the viewer. The main thing is daily work on oneself. Now I'm waiting for information from the UFC about the next match. Training is not interrupted, I spend all my free time in the gym to be ready to go to battle at any time.
The essence of the struggle is to endure, to cope with the excitement and fear that arise before the battle.
Experienced fighters know how to do this. When I go out into the cell, instincts turn on, and I already think only about the duel.
In order to tune in, you can use the auto-training technique: before the upcoming battle, think only about the good, imagine yourself a winner. I believe that you need to believe in yourself to the end. Do not doubt success - and then he will definitely come.
Defeat is an additional shake for a fighter. After him, you understand that somewhere you made a mistake and now you can work on it. Fighters are distinguished by the fact that they are very ambitious. Defeats them only anger and force even more work. Unambitious fighters meet, but they rarely become champions.

I'm going to fight for the belt of the champion of UFC (the organization I am speaking for now). This belt is the most significant title in mixed martial arts. This is the peak of a career for any fighter and an indicator that he has become the best. While I am on the sixth line of the rating among all the fighters in the world, I have very little left before the title: victories in two or three fights.
My wife helps me in everything.
Without a close person who supports, believes in you, it is much more difficult to move forward.
The birth of a child has changed my life, but only in a positive way. My son gives me even more strength in order to play sports and develop. I understand that now I am doing this not only for my own sake, but also for my family.
It doesn’t matter to me that my son becomes an athlete.
I want him to grow up a decent man, and also - a comprehensively developed and strong man who can stand up for himself. I will introduce him to the sport, he will train, but will become an athlete or not - let it be his choice. My task is to help him find a business that will really interest him and will be fun. Everything is like in my life.
