. In anticipation of this event, the Challenger asked Matthias how each of us could improve our memory.
- No, the amount of our memory is unlimited.
It is curious that the more data we store in our heads right now, the more we can remember in the future. People who know a lot, much easier to give new knowledge than those who do not have a broad outlook. If you consciously approach the process, you can multiply your memory capacity by at least one hundred. This is exactly what I teach people.

- There is no need to remember everything in a row.
I started to train my memory when I was 28 years old. Everyone who knew me before that will confirm that my memory was not outstanding. This is a learning issue. After hard training, I learned to “write” everything I want into my memory - as if an invisible notebook is in front of me. But if I decide not to “write” something, I won’t remember it.
I just have a tool that I use as needed.
- Of course there is. Here is one of them. In the morning, set the timer for two minutes. Try to imagine some object from your daily life (your eyes should be open).
For example, an apple. Now complicate the exercise: imagine an apple floating in the air in front of you. The next step is to imagine that the apple has increased in size and has become no less than a fitball. Try to render a three-dimensional image, not a flat image. At first it will be difficult for you, but if you practice regularly, you will learn how to easily cope with this exercise.
This two-minute training will put your brain into visualization mode for the whole day and improve the process of learning and processing information. The next day, choose another object.

- The best time to remember is when you have a lot of energy. For some it will be an early morning, and for some it will be the middle of the day.
Everything is individual, so there can be no clear recommendations. In the evening, before going to bed, it’s really useful to scroll in the head the information that you would like to remember. Sleep plays an important role in the process of memorization.
- Yes, sleep quality directly affects our memory (and our brain as a whole). Each person has their own norms for the duration of sleep - depending on age, physical activity and other factors.
But as soon as you begin to consciously relate to your sleep, you will notice positive changes in the brain. By the way, when we sleep well, not only memory improves. We have more strength for physical activities, our willpower is becoming stronger - it is easier for us to monitor our diet. And if we eat well and play sports, our brain will benefit from this. So everything is interconnected.
- Imagine a room or another place where you were last when thinking about this fact or name. Try to remember the details - what did this space look like? At that moment, lost thoughts will also return to you. This is incredible, you do not even need to physically return to this place - just remember it.
- Of course it does! As little as possible, use harmful carbohydrates (sugar, rolls), products that have been processed: canning, freezing, long cooking. Add food that contains healthy fats to your diet.
When I prepare for competitions that involve storing a large amount of data, I sit on a strict low-carb diet. And so for several weeks in a row. This allows you to better concentrate and show outstanding results.

Here's what you can do now to avoid memory problems in old age.
First, learn to use some basic techniques of memorization in everyday life (memorization using images), be curious and learn new things!
second, watch your diet. How to do this, I already said in the answer to the previous question.
Third, lead an active lifestyle. Great if you find time for three workouts per week.
It’s not necessary to go to the gym, even ordinary walking is very useful for our body as a whole and for the brain in particular.
- The easiest way to turn a name into an image. For example, the English name Sam is consonant with the word ham (pronounced "ham", translated means "ham"). This name is easier for me to remember if I imagine a package of ham. I imagine this image large and three-dimensional, mentally associate it with a person with a consonant name.
- On the one hand, gadgets make our life easier and allow us to focus on important things. For example, we no longer need to remember phone numbers, instead we can learn something more useful about people. But on the other hand, gadgets can negatively affect our memory. This happens if we are constantly - every few minutes - distracted by checking e-mails, messages on social networks. You need to consciously limit yourself in the use of gadgets, take their hands only when they are really needed.
