Until the cold finally came, we suggest that you prepare for them well - in a couple of weeks it won’t be right, we tell you exactly. Kristina Podrezova explains how to choose thermal underwear, which will soon become almost the main thing in your wardrobe - and not just sports one.
The lower the temperature in the street, the more layers of clothing you should have. It seems that this rule is a long time ago to remain in the past. Indeed, now you can exchange three pairs of tights and five sweaters for one set of thin thermal underwear and calmly walk along the street even in severe frost.
As a rule, thermal underwear is a set consisting of leggings and a longsleeve. Less commonly, jumpsuits, shorts or a T-shirt. You can wear thermal underwear as a base coat, instead of tights or a T-shirt - and for girls this is a real salvation in cold autumn or winter. Due to one or several layers of fabric made from certain materials, the linen retains heat, absorbs moisture and dries quickly. This is what helps you not to freeze.

Another question is how to choose and wear thermal underwear. To understand this, we suggest studying what fabrics it is made from.
Cotton underwear is soft to the touch and pleasantly felt on the body. This underwear is great for daily wear.
If you plan to actively engage in sports, put this kit aside - the cotton quickly dries, becomes heavy and dries for a very long time. Such underwear can stick to the body and cool it, rather than warm it - this, in turn, will increase the risk of catching a cold. Of the advantages of cotton underwear can be noted low cost and light weight, but do not put it on a big minus or for very long walks - for such situations it is better to choose lingerie containing wool.
Light, thin, almost not felt on body, quickly absorbs liquid and dries quickly, and is also relatively inexpensive. Ideal for those who prefer to train in the fresh air, even in the winter, rather than in a stuffy room.
Choose what consists of polyester or polypropylene. True, it is hardly suitable for long walks - only if the minus and the walk are small, and you walk quickly. Another drawback of synthetics is that with very frequent use over time, the fabric can start to smell unpleasant.

An excellent option for every day, if the temperature is too low (-20 degrees or lower).
With the same thickness, the wool warms much better than cotton or synthetics. Just because the properties of the wool and the special knitting help moisture evaporate quickly (which cotton cannot boast of) and retain heat better (unlike synthetics). We advise you to choose clothes made from merino wool - on the body it feels much nicer than regular wool. Among the shortcomings, perhaps, we note the price - it costs more than cotton and synthetic - and the inability to wear it at an average and not very low temperature. Just because it will make you too hot.
Another great option for sports fans on fresh air even in winter. Unlike synthetics, silk thermal underwear is more pleasantly felt on the body and retains its original properties much longer. Cons - costs more than other models and requires more delicate care (hand wash and non-abrasive drying).
Wear thermal underwear as the base layer of clothing for sports, moving to work and walking.
Under static load.
If the temperature is between 0 and -5 degrees, use silk or cotton. If from -5 to -15 - cotton, if lower - woolen. Use an additional warming layer (sweaters, cardigans, turtlenecks) if desired.
With active load. From 0 to -10 degrees, you can do without thermal underwear, there will be enough insulated tights for outdoor activities, then look according to your preferences.
If you are very cold, choose clothes that contain silk or wool, if not, give preference to synthetics.
