Crazy world record: jump from 58.8-meter cliff

Have you ever seen a rock 58.8 meters high (it's almost like an 18-story house)? Below it looks very frightening. And if you climb on it and look down? The pulse quickens, breathing stops, and every cell of your body is filled with fear. Can anyone decide to jump from such a height? And how.

Lazo, 27, was born in Brazil and raised in Switzerland.

By the way, he has been doing canyoning for quite some time - he overcomes canyons without the help of swimming facilities, that is, kayaks, kayaks, boats and everything else. Although during descents he can use a rope and other things that climbers usually take on hikes, sometimes it is easier to jump rather than mess with ropes to overcome another waterfall. Apparently, Lazo likes this method the most - he has jumps from 25, 30, and 35 meters. But to almost 60 meters ..

In the Italian-speaking part of Switzerland there are about 150 canyons with countless waterfalls. But the main and most important of them is Cascata del Salto. Water falls from this huge height into the pool, creating a real miracle of nature.

But you can’t just take it and jump from a 60-meter height, so Lazo and his team began to prepare thoroughly for this process. Firstly, they prepared the wall for the jump - they removed the stones that Lazo could catch on. Secondly, with scuba diving, we examined the pool and installed special devices that helped clean the water, thereby softening Laso’s blow to the surface of the water. Thirdly, they threw a few stones from top to bottom to understand the trajectory, to find out the approximate speed and time of the alleged flight of Lazo. That's just for our superhero this jump was not something special.

"After jumping from a 25-meter cliff, each subsequent one is similar to the previous one. The only difference is the time you are in the air."

Well, then, Lazo's mother was a gymnast, so he grew up playing sports in the gym and in the pool - these two ideal “ingredients” helped him become an excellent athlete.

August 4, day.

Lazo seems to be very calm. He knows how to land properly: legs - together and a little forward, hands - along the summer and lie on the hips to soften a blow to the face. He knows that the flight will be at a speed of more than 100 km / h, and then braking, and after a few meters it will pop up. Are you worried if there is enough 8-meter depth? Enough - the higher the height, the less force is required to stop. So, for example, to jump from 10 meters you will need 3 meters in depth, and from 50 - 4 meters.

But here it is important not to relax. “If the body is relaxed, I will not be able to group and enter the water correctly,” is what Laso thinks about it. Madman. He climbed a rock. He went to the cliff.

Looked down. And jumped.

The sound of a blow to the water was similar to that which the gun emits during a shot. Short, crisp. Boom! And so his colleague swims to Lazo, helps to get out of the water, they provide him with first aid.

It seems that Lazo managed to do everything right, but his right leg was slightly forward, he got a hip dislocation. Already lying on a stretcher, he looked at the medical staff and smiled. Everyone understood that everything was fine with him, and he managed to do something that no one had ever done.
