“Clean” nutrition: why diets do not help get rid of acne

Refusing meat, sugar, gluten, dairy products, fast food, all fried, fatty and salty - this is just a small list of tips that can be found on the Internet for "how to get rid of acne." Although nutrition

may be associated

with skin health, most of the information on the Web is not scientifically based, and many nutritional recommendations have no convincing evidence.

In addition, the stories of people who have overcome acne cannot be the basis for self-medication. First of all, people themselves cannot exactly determine what exactly helped them: refusal of a certain product, cosmetics or reduction of stress level. And secondly, that which helps one may not help the other.

Formal medical organizations like the American Academy of Dermatology believe that no specific nutritional changes are needed to treat acne.
